LUNG CANCER DETECTION STUDY:

REACT- A Case-Finding Trial Utilizing A Risk Stratification Protocol Involving A Genetic Susceptibility Test and Computed Tomography Screening for Identifying Lung Cancer Prevalence In Current or Prior Smokers

El Camino Hospital is offering a research study that includes a genetic test linked with other risk factors which could determine the likelihood of having lung cancer.

Participants who are current smokers will receive smoking cessation counseling.

All participants will undergo a low dose (CT) Computed Tomography image of the chest


BASIC ELIGIBILITY: :

  • Age 50 or older
  • Current smoker or ex-smoker
  • Willing to participate in smoking cessation counseling if actively smoking
  • Have no symptoms or history of lung cancer
  • Previous cancer ok if no evidence of disease for > 5 years (current non-melanoma skin cancer or carcinoma in situ of the cervix ok)
  • Have smoked the equivalent of 20 cigarettes per day for 20 years
  • Are able to receive CT scans
  • Are not pregnant
